White Appointed to EPA Local Government Advisory Committee

HARRISBURG – Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia) has been appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC), where she will help advise the EPA on environmental policies impacting communities across the country.

The LGAC is an independent, policy-oriented advisory committee composed of state, local and tribal leaders who provide advice and recommendations directly to the EPA administrator on critical environmental issues affecting local governments.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to represent Pennsylvania and Northeast Philadelphia on the Local Government Advisory Committee,” White said. “With many communities facing an ongoing housing crisis, I look forward to serving on this committee and working collaboratively to identify solutions that expand the adaptive reuse of existing buildings, while protecting the value of single-family homes and preserving the character and integrity of our neighborhoods. The decisions made at the federal level have a very real impact on our neighborhoods, local governments, and the families and businesses I represent.”

As a member of the 22-person committee, White will work with fellow state and local officials from 17 states and Guam to provide practical recommendations on federal environmental policies and their impact on communities.

“We have an opportunity to advance environmental policies that protect our communities while also encouraging investment, redevelopment and economic growth,” White said. “By removing barriers to the adaptive reuse of existing properties, we can help create more housing opportunities and make homeownership more attainable for first-time homebuyers and working-class families. I look forward to bringing Pennsylvania’s voice to the table and working with leaders from across the country to advance practical solutions that strengthen our communities.”

The LGAC was established in 1993.
