HARRISBURG-- Rep. John Taylor (R-Philadelphia) has been named majority chairman of the House Transportation Committee.
“Pennsylvania faces many transportation challenges, from rebuilding roadway infrastructure to finding resources to maintain our mass transit systems,” Taylor said. “It will be an honor to chair the committee that will weigh legislation to make sure our system of roads, bridges and mass transit are properly maintained and funded.”
From his position, Taylor will have significant input on finding funding resources for SEPTA, the southeast region’s mass transportation system.
In the previous term, Taylor served as chairman of the House Liquor Control Committee, where he crafted the first major revision to the state’s antiquated liquor store system. It became the most significant liquor reform bill to pass the House in more than 80 years.
Taylor was first elected to the House in 1984.
