HARRISBURG - Rep. Alex Charlton (R-Delaware) joined colleagues Rep. Chris Quinn (R-Delaware) and Sen. Tom McGarrigle (R-Delaware/Chester) in thanking Gov. Tom Wolf for signing into law fours bills backed by the three legislators.

“This shows what can be done when we stick together,” Charlton said. “By working together and securing the votes needed in each chamber, we were able to get four important bills through the General Assembly and onto the governor’s desk.”

“This demonstrates that when we work together we can move legislation from bills to law, from the House to the Senate and ultimately to the governor’s desk,” said McGarrigle.

“As representatives who speak with one voice we can make significant change to benefit our communities and our state,” Quinn said.

Wolf this week signed into law:

House Bill 2075, now Act 120 of 2018, which will allow regulated water and wastewater utilities to replace water laterals in communities that still have lead distribution pipes coming into their homes and sewer laterals that pose environmental hazards.

House Bill 504 is now Act 97 of 2018, which will allow self-storage proprietors to sell content insurance. Consumers and self-storage proprietors have asked for the ability to purchase and sell content insurance at the time of the rental contract agreement. Content insurance will cover the loss or damage of items put into storage by the individual renter.

Senate Bill 1095, now Act 158 of 2018, which will remove the heavy focus on standardized testing and provide additional options to fulfill high school graduation requirements beyond the Keystone Exams.

House Bill 2124, now Act 121 of 2018, which will require institutions of higher education to send annual letters to students with information on their student loan debt, including estimates of their total debt at graduation and estimated monthly payments.
