Re-elected to leadership position as caucus chairman
HARRISBURG – Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) took the oath of office today to begin her sixth term representing the people of the 147th District and her second serving as the caucus chairman in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

“Ensuring that the priorities and concerns of our district are considered in Harrisburg is particularly critical this legislative session, and I will use the leadership position I have to make sure that happens. Our state is diverse, and our interests need to be reflected at the state level,” Toepel said.

For the second session, Toepel will serve as the House caucus chairman, a leadership position to which she was originally elected by her state House peers in 2016. As caucus chairman, Toepel will conduct all Republican Caucus meetings and notify members when bills they have sponsored are scheduled for a House vote. She will inform members of the session schedule and legislation on the floor voting calendar. In addition, Toepel will participate in leadership discussions and help set the House agenda.

The day’s proceedings also included the formal election of Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as House speaker, as well as voting on rules to govern the body for the next two years.

The House will return to voting session on Jan. 15.
