Economy, tax relief, job growth, transparency and education top lawmaker’s agenda
HARRISBURG – Joined by family, friends and supporters, state Rep. Bob Brooks (R-Allegheny/Westmoreland) was officially sworn in to office today at the state Capitol to begin his first term in the General Assembly serving the people of the 54th Legislative District.

“I am grateful to the people of the district for giving me their confidence to represent their interests and concerns in Harrisburg, and I am honored to begin this work in earnest,” said Brooks. “This session begins with very serious challenges and I am ready to work hard to meet the expectations of the residents of the district.”

As a self-employed business owner and a proven team builder who has created jobs and successfully met a budget/payroll across several different businesses for more than 40 years, the economy will be one of Brooks’ top priorities, but he has pledged to work on government transparency, education and to reduce burdensome taxes as well.

“This session, the challenges before us are very demanding, but working together, I believe we can make great strides in dealing with the economy and increasing business and job opportunities especially in Western Pennsylvania,” said Brooks. “There are other issues to be faced to be sure, but everything that we do in state government revolves around the state budget. We have to get our financial house in order, and not do it with smoke-and-mirrors, but with solid, transparent action.”
