Jan. 01, 2019

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) today took the oath of office to begin the 2019-20 legislative session in the state House of Representatives working for the 71st District.

With this ceremony, Rigby began his first term in office. The day’s proceedings also included the formal election of Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as House speaker, as well as voting on rules to govern the body for the next two years.

“The issues that continue to plague our area – the opioid epidemic, blighted homes and the need for jobs – drove me to pursue public office. Residents have been waiting far too long for some relief; the concerns they have shared will direct me each day in Harrisburg and back at home,” Rigby said.

The House will return to voting session on Jan. 15. Rigby has not yet been assigned to the committees on which he’ll serve, but will announce that information when it is available.

Rigby noted that residents are encouraged to visit his website, RepJimRigby.com, and his Facebook page at Facebook.com/RepJimRigby. There, they will find information on the latest legislative developments in Harrisburg, state programs and the latest happenings in the 71st District. Residents may also email him at jrigby@pahousegop.com.
