MEDIA – Rep. Chris Quinn (R-Delaware) applauded the recent executive order that institutes new goals to reduce greenhouse emissions in Pennsylvania.
Gov. Tom Wolf signed the executive order on Tuesday establishing a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Pennsylvania by 26 percent by 2025 and 80 percent by 2050 based on 2005 levels.
“We must continue to do what is best for our environment and the sustainability of Pennsylvania,” Quinn said. “This executive order is a great step that will both help our environment and simultaneously advance green energy industries that will create jobs here in the Commonwealth. I look forward to working with the governor to achieve these goals.”
The executive order will also establish the GreenGov Council, which will help achieve the goals of the executive order, while also working to create energy efficiencies and enhance renewable energy use within state government.
In the 2017-2018 legislative session, Quinn sponsored a bill that would have established the goal of making Pennsylvania completely dependent on renewable energy by 2050.
“The governor took a great first step,” Quinn said. “We need to be good stewards of our environment and our energy resources. Our children deserve to enjoy the beauty of Pennsylvania that we appreciated as children and to have the opportunities to help create the energy of the future. I am glad we are working toward these responsible goals.”
