WHAT: State Reps. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), Jim Christiana (R-Beaver/Washington) and John Maher (R-Allegheny/Washington) will hold a press conference to unveil a package of legislation to boost the transparency and accountability of Pennsylvania’s state-related universities, which receive more than $560 million of taxpayer dollars annually.
The bills would expand Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law and Ethics Act requirements at all four state-related universities, as well as reform the structure of the Penn State Board of Trustees.
Pennsylvania’s four state-related universities are Lincoln University, Penn State, University of Pittsburgh and Temple University.
WHO: Bernstine, Christiana and Maher will be joined by Auditor General Eugene DePasquale; Jay Paterno, alumni elected member, Penn State Board of Trustees; Anthony P. Lubrano, alumni elected member, Penn State Board of Trustees; Maribeth Roman Schmidt, executive director, Penn Staters for Responsible Stewardship; Franco Harris, former Penn State University football player and Pittsburgh Steelers halfback; as well as other transparency advocates and current and former members of the Penn State University Board of Trustees.
