HARRISBURG – Following an investigation of allegations against Rep. Nick Miccarelli (R-Delaware), conducted as part of the long-standing caucus harassment procedures, House Republican leaders today ordered a copy of the investigative report and related files be sent to the Dauphin County district attorney for his review.
The complaint was filed on Feb. 8 by two individuals regarding Miccarelli’s possible violations of the Republican Caucus General and Sexual Harassment and Workplace Violence Policies. In accordance with the policy, a thorough investigation was conducted, witnesses interviewed and materials reviewed. Following completion of the investigation, a report was issued to House Republican Leadership, the complainants through their counsel, and Miccarelli through his counsel.
Additionally, throughout the course of the investigation, the Caucus has taken seriously any possible safety concerns and enacted, in concert with Capitol Police, additional safety measures for the benefit of all participants and the general public.
Additional details on the results of the investigation are prohibited from being made public under House policies. Additionally, confidentiality will be maintained, to the extent reasonably possible, consistent with the obligation to investigate and respond to the complaint and cooperate with law enforcement on the criminal investigation of this matter.
All parties and participants in the investigation were reminded that the Republican Caucus of the House of Representatives does not tolerate retaliation against any individual who reports or complains about harassment or improper conduct, or who assists in an investigation of harassment.
Anyone who witnesses or experiences behavior they believe to be retaliation, or if they are aware of such behavior, can report such behavior to the House Republican Human Resources Department at (717) 787-9833.
The investigators, and the leadership team, understand the delicate nature of this investigation and have appreciated the cooperation of all participants throughout this process.
On March 1, the eight members of the House Republican Leadership team called for Miccarelli to resign from the House.
