HARRISBURG – In response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s state budget address today, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) said he is concerned about government spending levels and their impact on taxpayers in the 10th District. He issued the following statement about Wolf’s proposal:
“The governor has proposed an increase in state spending by $1 billion and that doesn’t even include his plan to borrow $4.5 billion. The voters sent me to Harrisburg to protect them from the dangers of excessive government spending, to ensure continued economic development and to create an environment for job growth in our region. This proposed 2019-20 budget does just the opposite by adding burden to taxpayers who are already paying the highest gasoline tax and some of the most oppressive property taxes in the country. We have a lot of work to do over the next few months to get to a budget plan that respects residents in the 10th District and throughout Pennsylvania.”
Wolf proposed a $34.15 billion budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year, which is a $927 million increase over last year’s budget.
