HARRISBURG – Legislation authored by Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter) designating a bridge in Troy Borough as the Troy Area Veterans Memorial Bridge was approved by the House of Representatives today.
“Pennsylvania has historically been home to a large contingent of individuals who have served in the armed forces, and we have been blessed to have many of them call the Northern Tier home,” said Owlett. “These men and women – past, present and future – deserve our utmost gratitude and respect. As one small token of our appreciation, I thought it would be fitting to use a bridge in Troy to remind everyone who crosses it of the bravery and sacrifices of our many area military men and women.”
The bridge is located on Route 14 in Troy Borough, Bradford County, and runs over Fall Brook.
“Signage would be erected and maintained by PennDOT with the designation,” said Owlett. “Specifically, the bridge would honor all military personnel who have served, or will serve, from Troy Borough.”
House Bill 277 now goes to the state Senate for consideration.
