HARRISBURG – With a commitment to improving education opportunities for all Pennsylvania students, Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Franklin/Fulton) was named chairman of the House Subcommittee on Basic Education. Basic education covers kindergarten through 12th grade.

“Our basic educational system impacts all children in Pennsylvania. What they learn in school sets them on a course for the rest of their lives,” Topper said. “I look forward to serving as chairman of the Subcommittee on Basic Education and addressing issues our students, teachers and administrators face.”

Topper was appointed to the position by House Education Committee Chairman Curt Sonney (R-Erie). Topper also serves on the Education Committee.

In addition to this most recent appointment, Topper also serves on the Appropriations, Committee on Committees, Judiciary, Liquor Control and Rules committees for the 2019-20 session. He was also named a deputy whip.
