HARRISBURG – Today, the House of Representatives passed
House Resolution 1114, designating October 2018 as "Employee Ownership Month" in Pennsylvania.
The resolution, sponsored annually by Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin), aims to bring awareness to the positive impact employee-owned businesses have on the state’s economy and local communities.
“Employee ownership is a powerful incentive for hard-working Pennsylvanians,” Benninghoff said. “Not only do these businesses create and retain good-paying jobs in their communities, employee-owned businesses recognize and reward their employees for their dedication, talents and efforts.”
Employee stock ownership plans have been established in approximately 11,500 companies throughout the United States, employing over 10 million working men and women.
