HARRISBURG – Representative Becky Corbin (R-East Brandywine) today issued the following statement in response to Governor Tom Wolf’s budget address to the General Assembly:

“I was pleased to hear the governor talk about our schools and the opioid crisis during his remarks. These are two areas I think everyone can agree are important to moving Pennsylvania forward and need to be funded.

“We also need to look at cutting taxes and reducing government waste. Government must focus on its core functions and services. It is past time to cut the extras. More money in our friends and neighbors’ pockets helps grow the economy.

“Making energy more affordable, while protecting the environment is a primary focus of mine. By achieving this balance, we can ensure the future prosperity of the Commonwealth. No one should have to choose between heat and other necessities, such as food. However, it must be delivered in a clean and safe way.

“Finally, I remained focused on domestic violence prevention and education. We need to make sure services are funded so when a victim reaches out for help, it is available. Domestic violence does not just leave physical scars, but also emotional ones.

“This is just the first step in the budget process. Legislators will have the opportunity in the coming weeks to gather further information about the governor’s proposal and ask questions. I look forward to working with my colleagues to deliver a balanced budget that addresses the needs of Pennsylvanians in the most cost-effective way.”

The 155th District consists of the following municipalities: West Brandywine, East Brandywine, Uwchlan, Upper Uwchlan, West Vincent, East Pikeland, Spring City, and part of Phoenixville.
