ROYERSFORD – Following the governor’s annual budget address delivered today to a joint session of the state House and Senate, Rep. Michael Corr (R-Montgomery) issued the following statement offering his own budget priorities as the Legislature begins work to craft a new state spending plan:

“I’d like to see a final budget that protects taxpayers while also investing in important areas like education and workforce development.

“I believe the governor should work with the Legislature to enact a reasonable and responsible severance tax on natural gas so we can ensure large energy companies are paying their fair share of taxes in Pennsylvania.

“My colleagues and I in the Legislature now will begin the process of thoroughly reviewing the governor’s proposal and looking for ways to cut costs and reduce expenditures in an effort to save taxpayers’ money.”
