HARRISBURG – A bridge in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County will soon bear the name of a member of the military from the 193rd Legislative District who lost his life, according to state Rep. Will Tallman (R-Adams/Cumberland).
“Act 73 of 2017, which recently became law, includes language from my earlier legislation that attempted to designate the Mountain Road bridge over Yellow Breeches Creek in South Middleton Township as the Sgt. Adam C. Schoeller Memorial Bridge,” Tallman said. “I’m glad we were successful in paying tribute to this young man who chose to serve his country and I look forward to soon adding proper signage to the bridge.”
Schoeller, who lived in Gardners and graduated from Boiling Springs High School, was deployed with the United States Marine Corps during Operation Enduring Freedom. He is one of 12 Marines to lose his life when a helicopter in which he was a passenger collided with another helicopter off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii, on Jan. 14, 2016.
