WHAT: The House Finance Committee, chaired by Rep. Bernie O’Neill (R-Bucks), will hold a public hearing on enhanced revenue collection practices by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. In addition, Reps. Pam Snyder and David Zimmerman will have an opportunity to speak to their respective legislation in the context of the broader Department of Revenue (DOR) enhanced collection practices. The legislation is as follows:

House Bill 1867, sponsored by Zimmerman (R-Lancaster) would require the Department of Revenue to conduct in-person examinations with small business owners when requested tax records are 25 pages or more.

House Bill 1859, sponsored by Snyder (D-Fayette/Greene/Washington), would give certain delinquent PIT taxpayers with a 60-day grace period following receipt by certified mail of initial notice, to pay any applicable penalty or interest.
WHO: O’Neill and members of the committee will hear testimony from representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, National Federation of Independent Business, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Pennsylvania Society of Tax and Accounting Professionals.
