HARRISBURG – With unanimous support, the House Tourism and Recreational Development Committee approved on Tuesday legislation by Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) to clarify language in federal guidelines for youth all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riders.
“
House Bill 1936 makes important technical changes to provisions included in Pennsylvania Act 136 of 2016. It would ensure compliance with the most current version of the federal guidelines for youth safety regarding riding ATVs,” Wentling said.
Act 136 added language that implemented federal requirements regarding age and the governed speed of ATVs for riders under sixteen years old. Wentling’s bill would allow Pennsylvania law to comply with future changes to these requirements.
The legislation, widely supported by the ATV industry, now goes to the full House for a vote.
