WHAT: More than 15 million Americans fell victim last year to identity theft, with criminals stealing approximately $16 billion. Of that figure, more than $2 billion was stolen using credit/debit card skimmers or scanners at gas pumps and automated teller machines.

State Rep. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York County), whose district has seen a high number of skimming cases, will discuss House Bill 1918, her legislation that would update and upgrade Pennsylvania law to help prevent, eliminate and punish the use of fraudulent credit/debit card devices.

WHO: Phillips-Hill will be joined by members of the business community and local law enforcement, who support the legislation and will testify as to the statewide extent of the problem.
