HARRISBURG – Minors would be allowed to perform music in establishments with liquor licenses under a bill sponsored by Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland).
House Bill 561 passed the House of Representatives today.
The bill would amend the Liquor Code to allow minors to perform music in a licensed establishment if the minor is not compensated for the performance and remains supervised by a parent or guardian while there.
The Liquor Code already allows for performances by minors if they are receiving instruction in a performing art. This just expands the opportunities to all musicians who want experience to perfect their craft.
“I have a talented teenager in my district who would like to gain more experience by performing his music in licensed establishments,” Delozier said. “I would like to help him and others in the same position to expand their talents through these performances while under their parents’ supervision.”
House Bill 561 now goes to the Senate for consideration.
