HARRISBURG - State Reps. Karen Boback (R-Luzerne/Lackawanna/Wyoming) and Tara Toohil (R-Luzerne) have been appointed to serve on the board of directors for the Children’s Trust Fund (CTF), a group dedicated to supporting innovative and creative community-based child abuse and neglect prevention programs.
This is the first term as a board member for Boback, who is also in her initial term as majority chairman of the House Children and Youth Committee.
“As a long-term advocate for the protection and rights of Pennsylvania’s children, I am honored to be asked to serve our youth in this capacity,” Boback said. “Every child has the right to be safe, nurtured and protected from abuse and neglect.”
Toohil is being re-appointed to the board of CTF, whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect in Pennsylvania through funding of community-based primary and secondary prevention programs that support families.
“I especially appreciate CTF’s proactive focus on prevention of abuse before it occurs for the first time,” added Toohil. “Likewise, it is an honor to be a voice for our young people in this role, as well as that of membership on the House Children and Youth Committee, where I am vice chairman.”
The CTF board consists of three members from the state Senate, appointed by the Senate president pro-tempore; three members from the House of Representatives, appointed by the speaker of the House; and nine public members, appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate.
