PITTSBURGH –Speaker of the Pennsylvania House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) issued the following statement upon the death of Frederick (Fred) Anton III of Philadelphia:
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of my dear friend and mentor Fred Anton. As the longtime leader of the Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association, Fred has been integral to the biggest political discussions of the past several decades.
“When Fred entered a room, everyone’s attention turned to him. It is no coincidence that many of Pennsylvania’s governors, U.S. senators, congressmen, and state legislative leaders have considered Fred a close friend and advisor. He was gracious to everyone who came to know him.
“Being profoundly well read, well spoken, and knowledgeable, Fred freely offered advice to those who would listen, and I will forever be grateful for his invaluable advice and friendship through the years.
“Lidia and I send our deepest sympathy to his partner of many years, Emily Ryan, and his children, Fred and Sarah.”
