GIRARD – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) will host the House Game and Fisheries Committee in Girard for a public hearing at the American Legion Post 494, 42 Wall St., on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Members of the committee, which includes Wentling, will gather information on two pieces of legislation. One of the bills is Wentling’s House Bill 1409, which would reduce the fee on hunting licenses for qualifying non-resident disabled veterans.

“My bill would open Pennsylvania’s natural beauty to many qualifying out-of-state veterans and further help them in the recovery process,” Wentling said. “It’s an honor having the House Game and Fisheries Committee hold a meeting in the 17th District. Interested citizens are encouraged to attend the hearing and listen firsthand to testimony the committee will receive.”

The second piece of legislation, House Bill 1686, sponsored by Rep. Patrick Harkins (D-Erie), to be discussed at the hearing would expand the use of funds from the sale of Lake Erie fishing permits to allow the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission more flexibility in determining the best ways to use funds to improve public fishing in Lake Erie, Presque Isle Bay, and their tributaries.

Anyone interested in attending the hearing is asked to RSVP by calling Wentling’s office at 1-855-249-2427.
