WHAT: The House Insurance Committee, led by Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna), will hold a voting meeting to consider
Senate Bill 1003, which would require reimbursement for emergency medical services (EMS) by prohibiting a managed care plan from denying a claim solely because the patient/enrollee was not transported or refused to be transported. Additionally, the proposal would require Medicaid to pay for the same services required under this act and require sufficient funds be appropriated each fiscal year for the payment of the services.
Immediately following the voting meeting will be an informational meeting to learn more about
House Bill 1605, sponsored by Rep. Mike Tobash (R-Schuylkill/Dauphin). That bill would allow licensed insurance agents to charge a fee to consumers when no commissions are paid. As a reaction to the Affordable Care Act, many insurance companies no longer pay commissions for individual health insurance policies.

Those organizations expected to offer testimony on House Bill 1605 include Pennsylvania Association of Health Underwriters, Pennsylvania Insurance Department, Insurance Agents and Brokers of Pennsylvania and Blue Marsh Insurance Inc. in Honey Brook.
