HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives approved on Tuesday legislation to improve Pennsylvania’s business climate by authorizing the creation of commerce courts throughout the state, Rep. Seth Grove (R-York) said.
“My legislation,
House Bill 401, would allow state and county officials to establish the successful Commerce Court programs already in use in the Philadelphia and Allegheny County Courts of Common Pleas,” Grove said. “This invaluable courts system would handle complex business cases, including: acquisitions, mergers, dissolutions and liquidations, among other items.”
Grove’s legislation would allow the Superior Court and county Courts of Common Pleas to establish efficient and uniform commerce courts in their jurisdictions. This transparent and effective judicial system would improve the state’s business climate, which would attract more businesses to the Commonwealth, which would lead to more jobs.”
“Court cases involving businesses are often very complex. Having dedicate judges handle this type of litigation would make the process more efficient,” Grove said. “Businesses need to know they can trust the integrity of the legal system.”
Grove’s bill is now in the Senate for consideration.
