WHAT: State legislators will travel to Lehman to participate in a hearing on how to improve Pennsylvania’s economy by helping small businesses succeed, attracting new jobs, and educating a skilled workforce for the jobs for today and tomorrow. Led by House Majority Policy Committee chairman Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) and Rep. Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming), the hearing will feature representatives from higher education and the local economic development community.
The hearing is part of the Policy Committee’s latest initiative to grow and strengthen Pennsylvania’s middle class. Over the course of several hearings and roundtable discussions this fall, the committee will hear from Pennsylvania residents, community leaders and businesses on how state government can best assist them and when to get out of their way, as they undertake efforts to create jobs and improve, prosper and strengthen our communities.

Testifiers will include: Bob Durkin, Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce; Bill Leandri, Back Mountain Chamber of Commerce; Gina Severcool Suydam, Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Thomas Botzman, Misericordia University; Dr. Dale Jones, Penn State University; Dr. David Coppola, Keystone College; and a representative from Luzerne County Community College.
