Jobs, future of petrochemical industry at risk

WHAT: Rep. Jim Christiana (R-Beaver/Washington) and organizations representing Pennsylvania’s business owners, workers and manufacturing industry will hold a press conference to urge Gov. Tom Wolf and House and Senate lawmakers to abandon calls for a Shale tax during final discussions on the state budget. Christiana will explain how a severance tax could negatively impact the petrochemical industry and thousands of manufacturing jobs.

WHO: Christiana will be joined by: Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny); David N. Taylor, president, Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association; Gene Barr, president and CEO, Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry; Jeffrey M. Logan, president, Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council; and Matt Brouillette, president and CEO, Commonwealth Partners Chamber of Entrepreneurs Inc.
