Corr Joins House Committee in Approving Shale Tax Legislation

HARRISBURG – Rep. Michael Corr (R-Montgomery) joined other state House Finance Committee members in a bipartisan vote today to approve legislation that would enact a severance tax on natural gas production in the Commonwealth. Revenues collected as a result of the tax would be deposited into the General Fund.

Hahn Supports Plan to Fund State Budget

House, Senate Ag Committees to Discuss Spotted Lanternfly

WHAT: Members of the House and Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs committees, chaired by Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) and Sen. Elder Vogel (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), will hold a joint informational meeting to discuss the threat of Spotted Lanternfly, a non-native species with the potential to impact several facets of the state’s agriculture industry. Quarantines have been established in Berks, Bucks, Chester, Lehigh, Montgomery and Northampton counties, and there is growing concern regarding its spread.

Legislators to Call on Wolf to Sign Welfare Reforms in Human Service Code

WHAT: Legislators will call on Gov. Tom Wolf to sign House Bill 59, the Human Services Code. Entitlement spending is consistently a main cost driver, and until these costs are brought under control, Pennsylvania will continue to face significant budget challenges. Contrary to claims by spending advocates, the Human Services Code passed by the General Assembly includes reasonable reforms to the state’s welfare system, and Republicans believe it is in the best interest of Pennsylvanians for it to become law.
