House Approves Kaufer’s Bill to Address Residency Requirements for Public Assistance

HARRISBURG – In a continued effort to prevent individuals from receiving public assistance from multiple states, the state House today voted in favor of House Bill 1322, being sponsored by Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne), to require applicants to disclose states in which they have previously received welfare benefits. The bill passed by a vote of 149-48.

White Co-Sponsors Bill to Provide Workbooks for Nonpublic School Students

HARRISBURG — In a move to prevent nonpublic schools from experiencing a delay or loss of access to workbooks, Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia) has co-sponsored legislation to ensure that, in the event of a delay in the enactment of the state’s budget, students in nonpublic schools are not denied access to educational workbooks.

York County House Republican Delegation Supports Increased Patient Access to Test Information

HARRISBURG- The House of Representatives voted this week for House Bill 1233, sponsored by state Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks), which would improve patient access to out-patient diagnostic imaging test results. The legislation would require the imaging service entity to directly notify the patient between 7-20 days after the results were sent to the ordering health care practitioner, if there is a finding of an abnormality which requires follow-up care. The report must detail the results of the test and a statement that the patient is receiving the notice due to an abnormal finding.

Adams-York Delegation Backs Effort to Close Welfare Loophole

HARRISBURG – Thanks to a strong bipartisan vote, the state House Monday passed legislation that would address attempts to “double dip” when applying for public assistance. Under House Bill 1322, which may now be taken up by the state Senate, anyone who moves to Pennsylvania would have to list places where they lived before and received welfare benefits. The legislation also requires the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services to notify the other state or states of the change in residency of the applicant.

Toohil’s No-Fault Divorce Bill Heads to Senate
