Flick Hosts Lawmakers at Little League World Series for Regional Impact Talks

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT - On Thursday, more than two dozen lawmakers from the Pennsylvania House, Senate and United States Congress came to the Little League World Series (LLWS) to participate in a roundtable discussion and take in a few games. The event was a collaboration between Little League International and Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union), whose district is host to the LLWS.

Tri-County Landfill Permit Denied

I am pleased to recognize that the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court has denied the permit application of Tri-County Industries to reopen and operate a municipal waste landfill on 99 acres of land located in Liberty and Pine Townships in Mercer County. The Commonwealth Court reversed the decision of the Department of Environmental Protection and the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board, which had approved the issuance of the permit that would have fully restored the ability of Tri-County Industries to operate a permanent waste disposal site at the Liberty and Pine Township location. This location had previously operated as a permanent waste disposal site between 1950 and 1990 and has operated as a waste transfer facility since 1990.

Benninghoff Proposal Addresses Pennsylvania’s Crumbling Bridges, Roads

HARRISBURG – More than 2,600 Pennsylvania bridges are either closed, weight restricted or labeled “in poor condition.” A legislative solution offered by Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin), Republican chairman of the House Transportation Committee, would address their status in a different and more fiscally responsible manner compared to two pieces of legislation the House has already passed.

Gaydos Supports Mass Transit, Stands Against Unfair Plan, Calls for Fair Share and Reform

HARRISBURG - Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) issued the following statement explaining her vote against House Bill 1788, a last-minute mass transit funding plan, which passed the House today. The legislation would increase the percentage of state sales tax funds being used for mass transit and allow the state to borrow money for road and bridge projects.
